We'll already be on the Grand Line. There's five seas back home. They're called the Blues-- I was born in South Blue, but Luffy and I were raised in the East Blue. [ he points at the line he made vertically ] This would be a series of mountains called the Red Line. It separates the seas. It's totally out of our way, but the way to get across it includes climbing up the mountain through the river. It's a cool experience. [ BUT NOT THE POINT pointing to the other line ] This would be what we call the Grand Line. It's a treacherous stretch of ocean where everything is different and more dangerous than the other seas. Pirate graveyard's is what people in the Blues call it. But the half we'll be in is nicknamed Paradise when you're on the line itself, because once you get to the New World past Fishman Island, that's when things really get insane. That's where Pops' territories are. ... Were.
[ frowns at were but moving on ]
It's where we'll be heading, since that's where they would have gone back to.

Is Paradise one of those names where it's like, it's funny that it's called Paradise because it's really not one? [stretchy... she reaches to draw on his circle. she draws a little shark in the quadrant he's referring to.]

Yes and no. The Grand Line is hell for anyone normal, but the first half is paradise compared to what people call the New World. That's where all the toughest pirates are. [ that's where he lived!! ] And then... [ he draws another line around the grand line ] The reason most people can't just skip directly to random spots in the Grand Line is this. It's called the Calm Belt. There's no current, no wind, nothing. On top of that, it's filled with Sea Kings, those giant sea creatures I told you about? They sense any disturbance, they attack.
Yeah! [he did say that! she really wants to do that! she's also excited to try and turn into one, actually, she thinks she could probably manage it.]
Jeeze. Everything on the ocean wants to kill you. [this sounds fun, tbh] ... How do you get out of the Calm Belt if the current and stuff doesn't work?
For most people? You row. So people usually just go around to reach the Grand Line. [ turns his hand into fire ] I've got no reason to go through and out of it, but if I wanted to, it'd be pretty easy for me, though.
Striker's not that easy to tip over! And I'm faster. [ noogies her ] Anyway, I can intimidate Sea Kings with my... [ he makes a face ] Actually, that's hard to explain, so let's just call it a special technique for today.

she's quiet for a minute, sort of just thinking, and then:] You said earlier that you don't wanna change too much stuff.
[ he can tell she is going somewhere with this but he seems unsure where. something something living free with no regrets means not going back and pressing undo on his mistakes esp. since even when it was stupid decisions he wouldn't have made a different one without being true to himself blablabla shonen bullshit ]
But me and Saya coming with you is changing a lot of stuff, I think. [she says it sort of idly.] And you being alive is changing a lot of stuff too, but it's... good, though, none of it is bad.
[a beat, and she glances up at him, a little flatly.]
Don't argue with me about that one. [it's good that you're alive and if you try to say otherwise she's going to suplex]
but then she pauses, staring out at the ocean, and:]
So like, if those are okay changes, I don't see why it'd be so bad to make other ones. [... she's really just thinking about him frowning every time he mentions whitebeard's name, honestly.] Like blah blah it's about the adventure, I don't like shortcuts, but I don't think the one I'm thinking about is a shortcut at all.
[ i'm going to be honest, he opens his mouth to argue first but then she adds the part where he isn't sick and ace kind of stares blankly at nothing for a bit ]

I don't know how long he's been sick. He already was before I joined up. It's why he was fine dying in battle, and to make sure the crew made it out, but...
